Project: Full Circle Belize, establishment of plastic collection systems

in 9 communities of  in Belize while raising awareness about COVID-19


Overview

 The project will help reduce plastic waste in residential and natural areas of Belmopan and its surroundings while enhancing knowledge and awareness about environmental sustainability and COVID-19 prevention at the local and national levels.

 

The nine participating villages are:

  • Armenia, Belmopan, Camalote, Cotton tree, Ontario, Roaring creek, and Teakettle (Cayo District)
  • Santa Cruz (Stann Creek District)
  • Bella Vista (Toledo District)

Key activities and deliverables

18 waste collection bins will be installed at key areas (schools, health centers, parks, etc.) to facilitate plastic collection in each participating village.


7 youth groups will be trained about environmental sustainability and COVID-19 prevention so they can raise awareness and mobilize their communities.

People at the local and national levels will be reached via social media with environmental and project-related messaging.

The Full Circle Belize Project is a non-for-profit, multi-phased, multi-donor, and multi-year project that seeks to operate across the country indefinitely.
